December Photo Project 2012 is Here!

December Photo Project 2012

For the past two years, I participated in the December Photo Project {DPP for short} and found it to be one of the most meaningful aspects of the holidays for me.  I pick up my camera fairly regularly and with Instagram now, it’s a bit of an obsession.  But something about the intentionality of this project, and only choosing ONE image each day, makes it extra special.  The Treadways at View From the Prairie Box host this event each year and I encourage you to participate this year too.  You don’t need a fancy camera or big photography skills to join.  For me, it just forces my eyes and heart to be more mindful of the amazing things unfolding in the “everyday”.   You can look at posts from the last two years by clicking on December Photo Project on the right hand bar or entering it into the search feature.  I love that last year captured Drew’s first steps.  The year before, the first weeks of our move to the South Bay.  Just looking at the posts brings back many memories.

If you want to participate, here are the basic details from their website:

What & How: Take one photo each day for the first 25 days of December and post it to your blog (or Facebook album or Flickr page, you get the idea). In this month of celebrations, there is always something new to see and document each day. The DPP is a fun way to challenge yourself creatively and share the results with your friends on a daily basis.

Why & Who: Anyone and everyone can join up because… 1) it’s awesome, and 2) December is my favorite month of the year, and 3) we’re all artists in some way and the medium of photography allows for memory-making from folks of all walks of life and all levels of skill.

How do I participate? Simply sign up here. By filling out your name and giving me your blog (or FB or Flickr) address, you will also be giving me permission to feature one of your photos on the DPP page.

Badge: Designed by the very talented Dylan Moss! Grab a badge and post it to your blog.

Facebook: Continuing the tradition started last year, we’ve created a new Facebook page. Because we can and because we want to share the love. Feel free to like it even if you aren’t participating.
